The library exists in part with a museum named after the famed American president. The library has been built in the Dorchester neighborhood in the Columbia Point region and has been built in the vicinity of the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

The John F Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is kept open through the week from 9 AM to 5 PM. The library remains closed on Christmas, New Year's and Thanksgiving. The Research Room is kept open for visitors from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and can be accessed only with prior permission and appointments.

The admission fee to the museum for adults is rated at $12.00 and for students and senior citizens of age 62 years and above at $10.00. Children from ages 13 years to 17 years gain access to the museum for $9.00 while those under 12 enter for free.
