Shopping and Eating at Faneuil Hall Marketplace - Home to Fun and Excitement
The Faneuil Hall Market Place is situated close to the waterfront and the Government Center.I t has been a busy market place and high level meeting hall since 1742. The hall is now a property of Boston National Historical Park. Sometimes known as "The Cradle of Liberty", it is a popular stop on the Freedom Trail.
The origin of the hall dates back to 1740 when artist John Smibert built it in the style of an English market. The hall had a grasshopper weather vane that was used as a spy detector. Any suspicious people were asked about the vane, if they could not answer then they were convicted as British Spy.
The market place has played a crucial role for over 250 years in the lives of Boston Residents. The place holds several famous programs like the Changing of Guards, Sounds of Summer music fest, Fall Fun Fest etc. This WI-FI friendly market place is open from Monday thru Saturday 10 am to 9 pm and on Sundays 12 pm to 6 pm. The market place features more than 100 well stocked and furnished shops.
There are shops of every possible categories, it also has the world's first fleet of wholly unique pushcarts. As far as the restaurant collection goes, the market place has some delicious collections. McCormick & Schmick's, Ned Devine's Irish Pub, Todd English's Kingfish Hall are some of their collection. The restaurants come in variety of cuisines and prices but the quality shall never be questioned here.
