1) From the north: When driving from the North, you need to take I-93 S and use Exit 24-A for Government Center. Stay in the right lane until coming to its top. Drive across Surface Road onto Clinton Street. Turn left onto North Street at the end of Clinton Street. After crossing the intersection of North Street and Congress Street, you will find the City Hall is directly ahead.
2) From the south: Drive along I-93 N and take Exit 23 for Government Center. Stay in the left lane to the top where it's divided into two lanes wide. Keep on the lane marked for Government Center. Then you need to proceed across Surface Road onto North Road. Keep on driving on North Street to the intersection with Congress Street. City Hall is right in front of you.
3) From the west on Storrow Drive: All Storrow Drive traffic should access I-93 S. Drive along the direction and take Exit 24-A for Government Center. You need to stay in the right lane on ramp. When coming to top of the off ramp, you can drive across the Surface Road to switch onto Clinton Street. Continue to drive on Clinton Street and turn left onto North Street at the end. City Hall will be right in front of you after crossing the junction of North Street and Congress Street.
4) From the east or west on the Massachusetts Turnpike: Visitors from I-90 need to access I-93 North. Drive along I-93 N and take Exit 23 for Government Center. Keep on driving in the left lane until it becomes two lanes at the top. You should stay in the lane marked for Government Center. Proceed across Surface Road onto North Street. Drive along North Street to the crossing with Congress Street. After crossing the intersection, you will see City Hall in front of you.
5) From the east via the Summer Tunnel: If you're driving from the east via the Summer Tunnel, you need to stay in the left lane marked for Government Center. Remember to keep on the left lane for Government Center at the exit ramp splits. Continue to drive and turn left onto New Chardon Street towards Congress Street. Then you need to pass under the Government Center Garage and come to the intersection with North Street. You will find Boston City Hall is directly on your right.
For driving tourists, parking is essential for a smooth and enjoyable trip. Boston City Hall does not operate its own public parking facility. But you can find several commercial parking garages within walking distance. MTA Parcel 7 Garage is the best choice for short time visits.
