The main fascinating experience will be from the spectacular collections of art from ancient Egyptian to the modern one. You will also find inventive educational programs and special exhibitions.
The building of the museum in itself is special especially due to the fact that it has been constructed in phases:
1. First phase
This is a representation of Lowell's neoclassical design and features a 150m facade of cut granite on Huntington Avenue.
2. Second phase
This is a wing along Back Bays Fens and hold painting galleries.
3. Third phase
This involved the creation of the unique piece of art that lines the colonnade and the associated rotunda.
The other phases have involved extending the museum and there is a plan under way to include an American arts wing.
